Okay, so after coming verrrrrrrry close to going back to the creamy crack (a relaxer/perm), I decided to change up my hair regimen & change conditioners. So one day, I decided to go to
Walgreens and see what they had. I always heard of the
Organix collection of shampoos and conditioners, and after standing there looking at them for about 20 minutes trying to decide which one I wanted to get, I settled for the Cherry Blossom & Ginseng, which smells HEAVENLY! I also decided to switch up my moisturizer and get an oldie, but goodie, the
S-Curl Moisturizer originally for Jheri Curls, lol. (No, it doesn't give you a jheri curl, but it does moisturize your hair. They didn't call that hairstyle juicy for nothing, lol.)
Later that evening, I gained enough courage and strength to handle the beast of tangles on my head and began to detangle my hair while dry (a major no-no. Detangle your hair while wet. I just didn't feel like it, lol), and gave myself a hot oil/butter treatment with
Love, Nina~Natural Body Butters. I proceeded with the shampoo which didn't lather very well, but it did cleanse my hair. And then I entered heaven. Babbbbby, when I tell you that conditioner worked WONDERS! As soon as I put it on my shampooed hair, I could feel a difference. I was so happy that my tangles slipped right out & hair didn't come out in balls. I put two of my infamous Walmart plastic bags on my head (lol), sat under a dryer for about 15-20 mins for a deep conditioning treatment, and then allowed the conditioner to stay on a few more hours while I worked. After rinsing it out, I moisturized with the S-Curl moisturizer, applied the
Love,Nina~Natural Body Butter to it to seal it in, and then detangled a bit more with my shower comb & Denman brush. My hair is now 10 x's more stronger & moisturized just from that ONE change. I haven't washed it in almost 2 weeks and have barely had any hair to come out. I have fallen in love with my hair again and will continue using the products. Also, I started back taking my Biotin vitamins & hope to retain more length. Thank God for CHANGE, lol!

The BEST combo ever (so far anyway, lol!) |
Love, Nina~Natural Body Butter can also be used as a hot oil/butter treatment. Just scoop some out! |
Melt it, being careful not to overheat |
Ohhhh Lawd, here we go, lol! |
THE BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
While the butter is melted, part hair & apply it to dry hair |
Apply a shower/processing cap...and if you don't have one, get a plastic bag, lol! I sat under a dryer for about 20 mins & then allowed it to sit for a few more hours while I worked. |
I shampooed my hair with the treatment on & it was really clean.....so I felt like singing. I think I was singing. "THAT IS WHAT HE'S (GOD'S) DONE FOR ME" By James Hall...lol! My jam! |
This picture of my shower comb & Denman brush was after I began detangling.... |
While applying the conditioner, my tangles melted! I detangled with the comb & then the Denman brush. The Denman brush makes my curls clump beautifully together & detangles nicely with the help of the conditioner! |
Beautiful!!! |
One side done, one more to go. Look at the shrinkage!!! I allowed the conditioner to sit on for a while and then rinsed with cool water |
After rinsing, I applied the S-Curl Moisturizer and then a bit of butter |
I detangled again |
Just me! |
After the hot oil/butter treatment, shampoo, deep conditioner, moisturizer, & butter to seal, I twisted my hair up....and that's the END! I love how strong it was! Can't wait to do it again :-) |
Ok see, this is one reason why I've been thinking of going natural. Your hair is SO pretty! I love that you call the relaxer "creamy crack". That's hilarious. I'm due for my next "fix" tomorrow and I'm still thinking about making that the last one. I'd forgotten all about Biotin for hair growth.I have to look into getting some of that. I know my nails and skin will thank me too.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I apologize for the late response Nikell, but girrrrl, go ahead & do it sis!!! Whatever decision you make, you'll rock it well! I can already tell a difference in my nails. Hopefully this time I will keep taking them faithfully :-)
